Retired Police officers stage nationwide protest (Ladun Liadi Blog)
lice Pension Fund is responsible for the payment of pensions to retired police officers in Nigeria.Retired police officers in Nigeria took to the streets on Monday to protest their treatment under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). They demanded the removal of the CPS and immediate payment of over ₦758 billion in pension arrears. The protesters many of whom were in uniform marched peacefully in several states carrying signs and chanting songs. They expressed frustration with a system that has left them struggling to make ends meet after risking their lives in service to the country. The protest organized by the Nigeria Police Retirees and supported by the Nigeria Labour Congress is being held nationwide. Authorities have urged for calm as they work to address the retirees concerns.
