Enugu reduces Band A electricity tariff (Daily Post)
The Enugu Electricity Regulatory Commission (EERC) has issued a new tariff order to MainPower Electricity Distribution Ltd lowering the electricity cost for Band A customers from N209 per/kWh to N160/kWh effective August 1 2025. This decision was made in accordance with the Enugu State Electricity Law of 2023 which grants the commission the power to oversee the operations of power generation transmission and distribution within the state. The move aims to align the tariffs with the state governments subsidy on power generation and ultimately benefit electricity consumers. This decision was made following the 2023 Constitutional Amendment and was signed into law by Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah in September 2023.
