  • 1) Northern leaders and the northern governor's forum have demanded justice for the gruesome murder of the 16 hunters that were murdered in Uromi, Edo state. While the situation was referred to as a jungle justice, it saw the gruesome killing of not less than 15 fulani hunters who were said to be on their way to kano state to celebrate salah. This has indeed sparked a lot of controversies as to why the community resulted into taking laws into their hands and not letting the appropriate security agency do their job. Do you think the community should have let the law take it course?
  • 2) Many Nigerians online basically the southerners have justified the gruesome killing of the fulani hunters in Edo state. Many citing examples of how the fulanis also kill and murder the southerners especially the farmers, women and children in their homes and farmlands across the southern states in the country without justification for it. Some citing it as a revenge over the continuous killings of farmers across southern states by suspected armed fulani herdsmen. Should reprisal attacks like this be the way of getting justice?
  • 3) There have been high tensions in Edo state as the government has declared the perpetrators of the acts wanted and the president has also ordered a full investigation into the action and task the security operatives to bring the culprits to justice as soon as possible. Residents of Uromi and Edo state at large are in fear of an imminent attack by the fulanis in response to the killing of the hunters. Security has since been placed on high alert in the state. How do you think the government should balance the need for justice to prevent further violence like this and retaliation?
