Responses- 1) The death of a farmer occurred in Benue state two days ago after a false alarm was raised about an attack by suspected herders. This happened at the fear of a reprisal attack by the suspected herders after 20 cows were reportedly killed in a nearby farm earlier. Should innocents Nigerians keep dying daily while the government refuses to do nothing about this suspected armed herders?
- 2) In a press conference granted by the DG of state security service few days ago, he emphasised that the police and other security agencies can only do as much and advised that people should take every necessary means to defend themselves against this suspected armed criminals and bandit. Do you think this is the solution to solving the long conflict between farmers and the herders?
- 3) The death of this farmer in Benue is one amongst hundreds that are being reported weekly. The southern part of Benue state has been plagued and invaded for years by suspected armed herders which has resulted in the death of hundreds if not thousands of farmers and villagers over the years with government taking little or no efforts in safe guarding the lives of people in that region. What measures would you advise the government take to curb the endless killings of people in that region?
