Zelensky rejects Trump-backed Peace settlement recognizing Crimea as Russian territory

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected a peace settlement proposed by US President Donald Trump which would recognize Crimea as Russian territory. The disputed region of Crimea was annexed by Russia in 2014 leading to ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia. Zelensky stated that Ukraine would not accept any deals that would harm its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The peace plan which was backed by Trump also included lifting sanctions against Russia. Zelenskys rejection of the plan is seen as a strong stance against Russian aggression and a reaffirmation of Ukraines commitment to reclaiming control of Crimea.
