Federal Govt Earns N6.5bn From Mining In Q1

In the first quarter of 2021 the Federal Government of Nigeria earned a total of N6.5 billion from the mining sector. This was revealed by the Minister of Mines and Steel Development Olamilekan Adegbite during a press briefing. The earnings were generated from royalties fees and mining lease payments and are a significant increase from the N2.3 billion earned in the same period last year. The increase is attributed to the governments efforts to diversify the economy and promote the mining sector as a viable source of revenue. The government is committed to further developing the sector and increasing its contribution to the countrys GDP.
