The Nigerian governments debt of N600 billion is having a negative impact on electricity generation according to the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC). The company which is responsible for managing power plants in the Niger Delta region stated that the debt is affecting their ability to maintain and operate the plants resulting in reduced electricity production. This has led to frequent power outages and a decrease in the reliability of the power supply.
