A Lagos resident has been remanded in Kirikiri prison until June 26 for illegally dumping waste. The accused identified as Mr. Adeyemi was arrested by officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) for dumping waste in a non-designated area. He was charged with violating Section 115 (1) of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Law of 2017 which prohibits the indiscriminate disposal of waste. The presiding magistrate Mrs. O.A. Olayinka ordered that Mr. Adeyemi be remanded in prison until his next court date. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of proper waste management and the consequences of violating environmental laws.
