In a recent interview Femi Adesina the Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity stated that if the president had not sought medical treatment abroad he would have died earlier in Nigerian hospitals. Adesina defended the presidents decision to seek medical treatment abroad citing the lack of adequate healthcare facilities and equipment in the country. He also mentioned the efforts being made by the Buhari administration to improve the healthcare sector including the revitalization of primary healthcare centers and the establishment of a health insurance scheme. Adesinas comments have sparked controversy and criticism with many questioning the governments commitment to improving healthcare in Nigeria.

    This is really an eyesore to our healthcare system in the country. We do not have a standard medical care the whole of the country that can tend to the president yet we see our politicians buy expensive jets and yacht and then they tell the average citizen to endure change. Very sad to see

    No hope for the poor masses, the poor ones have no access to the healthcare system in Nigeria,those that are lucky are helped with gofundme account, the average ones are using HMO from their companies.

    Hope? Even the former aide to the president confirmed on a live television that the president wouldn’t have lived this long if he was being treated here in the country. There is no hope for the average Nigerian.
