Highest temperature in Telangana drops to 40.6C at the peak of summer; 11 districts under heavy rain alert on May 20 (The Hindu)
On May 20 the highest temperature in Telangana dropped to 40.6°C providing some relief from the scorching summer heat. However 11 districts in the state were put under a heavy rain alert for the same day. This sudden change in weather is due to a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal. The Indian Meteorological Department has warned of thunderstorms lightning and gusty winds in these districts. The districts of Adilabad Kumram Bheem Asifabad Mancherial Nirmal Nizamabad Jagtial Peddapalli Karimnagar Rajanna Sircilla Kamareddy and Sangareddy are expected to experience heavy rainfall. This is a welcome relief for the people of Telangana who have been facing extreme heat in the past few weeks.
